AT OUR LAST MEETING FOR THIS YEAR The monthly winning video for November was Geoff's "A Day At Bathurst". Five more videos for our end of year presentation were shown & entries came from Lyndon, David, Mark & Kevin. The usual question & answer session after supper was replaced by a general discussion by members & a guest. The question we put up for discussion was; "Why do people often visit us once, never to be seen again ?" Fortunately we had such a visitor with us but this time for his second or third visit & he was able , among others , to give some insight. The upshot of our discussion was that the club needs to get back to basics & help prospective members to improve their movie making without frightening them off with technicalities & a perception that they are too far behind the rest of our club members in ability. Our final meeting of 2008 closed at 9.30 P.M. We've had a very eventful year with many changes & new ideas being tried. It's the general consensus of the committee & I think the members as well , that we've made many advances & are a more coherent & happier group than ever. I'd like to sincerely thank every member for giving me the opportunity to be the website editor but even more than that, for everyone's constructive assistance & critique in the building of this site. Here's to a brighter & even more successful future

AT OUR LAST MEETING 11 / 11
/ 2008 The meeting was opened with a suggestion that we have a Saturday B-B-Q & filming day at the Nowra Wildlife Park early next year. 7th March is the day we've pencilled in for this event & more news will be put on here closer to rhe date. Three movies were shown on Tuesday night with one being entered fpr the monthly assessment & the other two for the end of year final. Trevor & Col's movie "Tartan Warriors" & Geoff's How Can They Hear " being entrants in the end of year comp & Geoff's "A Day At Bathurst" being the November assessment entry. All three were received to much acclaim by the 15 or so members present. After supperTrevor posed a question about how to zoom & crop an image & much discussion ensued about the subject, hopefully answering Trevor's question & teaching the rest of us a lesson as well, so to speak. |

AT OUR LAST MEETING 28/ 10
/ 08 The meeting opened with the presentation of the winner's certificate to Jeanette for her movie "Gulgong Pioneer Museum" from the last assessment evening. David started the meeting by showing how to use transitions in Adobe Premier Elements 2. After much playing & trialling different types of transitions , of which there are dozens in the programme , it was concluded that the most common were usually the most useful. The fade is the most commonly used effect both commercially & by amateurs alike. After supper Col showed effects being used in titles. This is a different story altogether where you can let your imagination run wild & rather than detracting from the movie which transitions do during the main running of the show, effects in the title can really enhance the movie. Col also gave everyone some homework to do. We must use a mask to block out faces as is often done on T.V. when showing suspects outside court houses . Don't forget R.S.V.P. 25th November for the presentation evening. Also please let us know if you intend to put on a movie for the end of year presentation . |

AT OUR MEETING 26th AUGUST The group's meeting commenced in the School Of Arts Hall in Berry St. The meeting was attended by 10 members & one guest. It was good to see Fran back from her tripping around this great land of Oz. After Lyndon & Jeannette had been announced as the joint winners of this month's assessment evening, which was a first ever dead heat, Mark gave a very informative demonstration of the Magix Pro 14 software which is his editing software of choice. After supper Col gave a showing of the abridged version of "Setting Goals ", the Mental Health Recovery Team's movie. We wish John , who is still on the sick list, a speedy recovery. Our president is also absent due to his & Pat's gallivanting around the world.

AT OUR MEETING 12th AUGUST Four members' movies were shown for assessment using the new format decided on at our A.G.M. The movies were of a very high standard & well received by the 20 odd members & visitors. The highlight of the evening however was the World Premiere of the Mental Health Recovery Team's movie "Setting Goals". After having feasted on sandwiches hors d'oeuvre's & glasses of wine a "press conference' was given by all participants in the production of the movie. Afterwards the movie was shown with much acclaim to a somewhat receptive & attentive audience . It was agreed that the movie was a great effort & I would suggest that anyone who wasn't at the meeting be at the interclub meeting on Saturday13th September when the movie shall be rerun as our entrant in that day's competition. Also our new website was previewed & with a few changes it was given the go-ahead by all those present

9th JULY . An evening of questions & answers was held using David's computer & also Mike brought in his new camera & gave the 10 members present a print out on it's characteristics. The evening progressed well with Trevor asking most of the questions & gaining an insight for most of us with the answers given by different members on a range of editing techniques. John is still away sick & was sorely missed at the gathering.

24th JUNE 2008 . Daniel Parsons gave a presentation on matte painting . This is a little-known aspect of the film industry & is used to put in those backgrounds which appear to be location shots. It was done by painting a background onto glass & blocking out the background whilst shooting the scenes. Later the film was run with the painted background being super-imposed onto the negative. These days the matte painting is done on computer using Photoshop or similar programmes. Daniel's presentation was watched by a group of approximately 15 members, including the just returned & somewhat jet-lagged globetrotting Lyndon Rea. Also the members were asked to give feedback on a committee proposal to have more outdoors filming events. Possibilities were a twilight river cruise, a B-B-Q at Greenwell Point or an evening at a member's home . These were put forward as examples & if anyone has ideas then you are encouraged to share them . This is just a suggestion put forward by the committee & it's totally up to the members as to whether we proceed with it . A warm welcome to Judy Smith on her first visit to the club. The winner of this month's pointscore competition was David Wastie............................again. The club was given use of a new projector which has recently been purchased by the Shoalhaven Arts Centre & we would like to take this opportunity to thank Tracy & the Arts Centre for their generosity.

10th JUNE 2008 Our last meeting was on 10/ 6/ 2008 & was attended by approximately 15 members A video each was submitted by John Hussell & David Wastie for our now two-monthly point score appraisal Each video was of quite high quality & was scored by each member accordingly .The results will be posted here after the next meeting, at which the winner shall be announced. Also a first-time visitor, Tony Crozier , attended & gave some very interesting insight into video making. Tony is a professional photographer hoping to start up a business in town &we can only wish him the very best of luck in his endeavours. Hopefully Tony shall join our small group of enthusiasts & impart more of his considerable knowledge.
